GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS AND ACTIVITIES
Students in the eighth grade may be denied the privilege of participating in the graduation activities for one or more of the following reasons:
- Failing more than two quarters of English, reading or math; failing more than six quarters of core classes; or failing more than two quarters of an elective and/or physical education.
- Excessive absences (Twenty days or more unless the student is under the care of a doctor. This will be at the discretion of the school principal.)
- Disciplinary reasons. If, through administrative procedure of disciplinary rules, the principal determines a student has not earned the right to take part. The graduation exercise is a privilege and not a right and students must earn the privilege to take part.
A student may still be promoted to the ninth grade even if he/she loses the privilege of taking part in the graduation exercises. Eighth grade students who have satisfactorily completed the courses of study prescribed by the Governing Board shall be eligible for a diploma of promotion and may participate in promotion ceremonies.
