BANK OF AMERICA ESSAY/SPEECH CONTEST
2018 Topic: “Water Resources: Where are we now? What does the future hold?”

The Bank of America Essay/Speech Contest is for 4th, 5th and 6th grade students. Each participating school may nominate one (1) essay at each grade (4th, 5th, 6th). There are no regional level contests.
The nomination form (which includes topic, prompt and guidelines for the contest), judging sheet and certificate request form for the Bank of America Essay/Speech Contest are available online at http://ci.kern.org/StudentEvents/English.
There is no regional competition for this event. Schools are encouraged to have all 4th, 5th and 6thgrade students write essays as a part of the English/language arts curriculum and then nominate one essay at each grade level for the competition. Essays are due by 5:00 PM, on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Essays that qualify for the event final will be presented as speeches on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Office, Reider Education Center, 2000 K Street, Bakersfield, CA. This year’s essay topic is “Water Resources: Where are we now? What does the future hold?”
