Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources

Mr. Darryl Johnson began his teaching career with Panama-Buena Vista Union School District (PBVUSD) in 1990 and was assigned to Stine Elementary School as a student teacher until June of 1992. For the next 2 years, Mr. Johnson taught at Casa Loma Elementary school of the Bakersfield City School District, before returning to PBVUSD where he has spent the last 29 years. 

On July 1st, 2017, Mr. Darryl Johnson was promoted to his current position of Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources with PBVUSD. Prior to that, he worked 8 years as the District's Director of Human Resources. Mr. Johnson has been an educator since 1990. He served 4 years as Principal of Stonecreek Junior High school and 3 years as Principal of Van Horn Elementary School. He has also been an Assistant Principal for 5 years at both the elementary and junior high school levels and he has taught various grade levels at the elementary level. 

Mr. Johnson is a graduate of California State University, Bakersfield, where he earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies, a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, a Masters Degree in Educational Administration and an Administrative Services Credential. Prior, he graduated from Bakersfield College, where he earned his A.A. degree in general education. Darryl is a proud graduate of Bakersfield High School. Once a Driller, Always a Driller. 

Darryl Johnson is dedicated to the education of all children. His quest to be a champion in leadership has involved being a servant leader, equipped with problem solving and strategic decision making skills, which have allowed him to adapt to situations and build effective people skills which embodies Excellence in Education.
