Our Superintendent
Katie Russell, Superintendent
I am honored to serve as the Panama-Buena Vista Union School District's Superintendent, and proud to be the first woman and first African-American Superintendent in the District’s 148 year history. Every day I am thankful to be part of the Bakersfield community and honored to serve as your Superintendent. We embrace a district culture of Purpose, Caring and Results, while striving for excellence through our five strategic pillars:
- Student Achievement
- Diverse Learning Organization
- Wellness, Safety and Equity for All
- Family and Community Partnerships
- Fiscal Responsibility
We are a district who values family, demonstrates a deep commitment to educational excellence, and holds high expectations for ALL students.
It is rewarding to visit school sites and walk classrooms where I see students engaged in rigorous instruction and challenged to excel both academically and social emotionally. Our district staff is committed to bring our best every day on behalf of the students and families we serve.
Parents and community are a critical component to the success of our educational program and our district appreciates and welcomes you into the P-BVUSD family. I know that it is only through us working together that we can create a sense of community and “Excellence in Education” where ALL students achieve.
