Katie Russell, Superintendent
I am honored to serve as the Panama-Buena Vista Union Superintendent, and proud to be the first woman and first African-American superintendent in the District’s 145 year history. A district who values family, demonstrates a deep commitment to educational excellence, and holds high expectations for ALL students, make our schools the best place to educate your children.
Over the past year and a half we have all experienced unprecedented times, both personally and professionally and through all the challenges our district has come out stronger than ever and we are ready for the 2021/22 school year. We have learned how to support our schools, students and families in very different ways and we will implement all the ‘best practices’ learned as we return to in-person instruction. I am excited and thankful to welcome back our students for a learning experience to guarantee success in high school and beyond.
This year’s motto for our District is, “I’ll be there for you.” As we return to school our staff will prioritize building relationships as a foundation to learning and family partnerships. Parents are a critical component to the success of our educational program and your support is appreciated and welcomed. If we work together, value diversity, and promote and ensure a culture of learning with high expectations, ALL students will achieve.
