John P. Lake - Clerk
John P. Lake, (J.P.) has a lifetime commitment to Bakersfield. Born and raised in the area, he is passionate about the community where he continues to live, raise his children and help run the family business, Rain for Rent. Throughout his career, J.P. has served the family business in various roles, including: sales, marketing, finance, and real estate. He is also a community leader in the development and support of Kern County's entrepreneurial sector. Lake knows that good schools are a critical part of any vibrant community, and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Heritage Oak School, a private, K-12 Christian school in Tehachapi. J.P. earned a bachelor’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Southern California, and an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. J.P. and his wife of 16 years, Ingrid, are high school sweethearts who met at Garces Memorial High School. They have three children, ages 8, 10 and 12.
