Cherie has just completed her first year as Trustee and is currently the vice president of the board. She has enjoyed being a voice and advocate for all students in the district.  She believes all students should be treated equally regardless of their race, sexual orientation, language, or socio-economic status.  She has just completed her 30th year as an educator working for the Lamont Elementary School District as the Projects Resource Director.  She has taught both 4th and 5th grade and after teaching in the classroom she became an Academic Site Coach, After School Program Coordinator and Vice-Principal for a short time. She has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to education and is very familiar with AVID, LCFF, LCAP and State and Federal Programs.  Cherie believes that parent involvement and engagement are two keys to student success.  She supports the District’s Strategic Plan that has made parent involvement and engagement a top priority.  She wants parents to know and understand that the District’s mission statement begins with  “partnering with parents and community.” and she will work tirelessly to make their voices heard. Cherie graduated from Bakersfield College with an AA in Liberal Arts, from CSUB with a BA in Liberal Studies and University of LaVerne with a MA, in Educational Management.  Cherie is currently a member of the Lamont Lions Club and in her free time she enjoys traveling the world, attending Los Angeles Dodger baseball games or just hanging out at Disneyland people watching
