Paula Van Auken

Board President

Paula Van Auken has lived in the Panama Buena-Vista Union School District (P-BVUSD) for 40 years, and both her children attended Leo B. Hart Elementary and Tevis Junior High. Her experience as a classroom teacher for 26 years, teaching both ELD and GATE, has prepared her for the complex issues facing education today. She is prepared to improve the quality of education as well as tackling equity, and the fiscal challenges involved in the running of our schools. She believes that supporting P-BVUSD staff and families is of the utmost importance. As a member of P-BVUSD’s Board of Trustees, Paula will value and encourage the involvement of P-BVUSD’s parents, students, and community. In addition, she will seek the knowledge and expertise of the District’s employees and employee groups whose services are essential to P-BVUSD. 

Paula received her BA in English as well as her teaching credentials from CSUB. She has been married to her partner, Dave, for 50 years. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, gardening, reading, and traveling.
