Dual Language Immersion Program
We are excited to announce the opening of our district's first ever Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program! This program will be offered at our newest school, Mountain View TK-8.
What's DLI?
A dual language immersion program is an educational approach in which students are taught in two languages (Spanish/English). The goal is for students to become proficient in both languages, often with a focus on balancing academic content with language acquisition. These programs typically involve a mix of students from different language backgrounds, which allows them to learn from and interact with each other.
The intention is not only to teach a second language but also to ensure students learn core subjects (like math, science, history) in that language, which helps with deeper language immersion that helps them speak and think better in both languages.
These programs are popular in places where people want to be able to speak two languages and learn about different cultures. They can help students be better at solving problems, communicating, and understanding other cultures.
