The Panama-Buena Vista Union School District (PBVUSD) Induction Program is a two year job embedded Commission approved professional teacher induction program.  Our program is designed to support the professional development of newly-credentialed beginning teachers in their first year of teaching through mentoring and supportive guidance to fulfill the requirements for the California Clear Multiple Subject, Single Subject, and Education Specialist Credentials. 

Enrollment in P-BVUSD Teacher Induction Program takes place during the Induction Orientation. To enroll, the candidate must:

• be employed by the P-BVUSD as teacher of record,
• hold a valid, California preliminary single subject or education specialist credential, and
• Complete and sign the Professional Credential Candidate Agreement

Induction Consists of:

• Pairing induction candidates with experienced mentors 
• Offering professional development opportunities to meet the needs of the new teachers in relation to his/her teaching assignments 
• Building a support network by providing opportunities to dialogue with colleagues
• Assisting induction candidates to develop an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) that will serve as his/her road map through the induction process
• Providing a system of guided inquiry to assist beginning teachers and grow professionally

Support is provided to P-BVUSD teachers who hold a teaching permit.  These include Provisional Internship Permit (PIP), Short-Term Staff Permit (STSP), General Education Limited Assignment Permit (GELAP), Special Education, Limited Assignment Permit (SELAP), or a Waiver.

Permit Teachers are assigned a mentor and complete the same number of logged support hours as Intern Teachers and Induction Teachers.  Permit teachers are also offered addition Professional Development throughout the year.

Permit Teachers are also required to participate in Academic Advisement sessions with the P-BVUSD New Teacher team and Human Resources department.
