Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA)
The mission of the P-BVUSD Visual and Performing Arts Department is to provide equal access to quality standards-based arts instruction in all P-BVUSD schools in music and visual arts by competent, qualified teachers. Because the arts contribute to the total development of the individual and serve an important purpose in society, the P-BVUSD is dedicated to expanding their role within our schools and lives; creating and maintaining a network of community arts and cultural institutions that support all teachers and students in a standards-based arts curriculum; and addressing multiple intelligences, creative thinking, cultural diversity, and special needs.
All of the P-BVUSD elementary students in third through eight grades receive regular, comprehensive, sequential music instruction from certificated music specialists using State adopted standards-based curriculum and resources. All elementary and junior high students, grades 5-8, have access to Band, Orchestra and Chorus classes providing regular, comprehensive, sequential music instruction from certificated music specialists using State adopted standards-based curriculum and resources.
