In the coming weeks, you may hear a lot about the State Assessment System. To help clear up some confusion here are few terms you may encounter.
CAASPP - CAASPP stands for the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress. This is the new name of the entire assessment system in California. The CAASPP includes all high stakes testing such as English/Language Arts assessments, Math assessments, Physical Education assessments, Science assessments, etc. It's the large umbrella of assessments schools are required to administer.
SBAC - SBAC stands for the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium. This is the name for the computerized English and Math assessment that our students took for the first time in the spring of 2015. SBAC and CAASPP are often used interchangeably, so now you KNOW!
